Gazipur Agricultural University Admission Guide 2026-27

Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) is a public agricultural university at Salna in Gazipur. It was formerly known as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). The university''s official website says the name changed to Gazipur Agricultural University in February 2025. This guide explains what applicants should know before the 2026-27 undergraduate admission circular is released.

Gazipur Agricultural University admission date 2026-27

As of October 2, 2026, the 2026-27 undergraduate application deadline, application fee and admission test date should be treated as not officially announced unless a newer notice appears on the GAU admission page or the agriculture-cluster admission portal.

The latest completed agriculture-cluster cycle covered the 2025-26 academic session. The cluster admission test was held on January 3, 2026. That previous date is useful for planning only; it is not the 2026-27 examination date.

Why consider GAU?

GAU has a strong agriculture and research identity and offers study areas connected with the food system, natural resources and rural development. Its academic areas include agriculture, fisheries, veterinary medicine and animal science, agricultural economics and rural development, and forestry and environment. This makes GAU a suitable choice for students who want a science-based degree with practical links to farming, livestock, fisheries, climate, food security or agribusiness.

The campus is in Salna, Gazipur, which is close to Dhaka and connected to the wider Gazipur region. Students should compare the full department list, laboratory facilities, residential options and current prospectus before ranking their choices.

Eligibility and admission test

The final 2026-27 circular will decide the exact SSC and HSC pass-year rules, minimum GPA, subject requirements, quota provisions, application fee and test format. Do not rely on a coaching-centre poster or an old BSMRAU circular as the final rule.

Agriculture-cluster applicants normally need a science background with the required subjects. The final notice should be checked for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics requirements, combined GPA rules and any year-of-passing restriction. The admission test generally assesses core science subjects and language or general knowledge areas specified in the official prospectus, but the official 2026-27 prospectus must be followed when published.

How to prepare for GAU admission

1. Keep SSC and HSC information, board, roll and registration numbers ready.

1. Revise Biology, Chemistry and Physics from the HSC syllabus instead of memorising only model answers.

1. Practise timed MCQs and learn how negative marking works if it is included in the final notice.

1. Save the official application confirmation and download the admit card after the portal opens.

1. Keep GAU''s new name in mind when searching for notices; older pages may still use BSMRAU.
